Why are repeaters so important?

The MeshCore network works by forwarding messages from device to device. The more devices there are, the stronger the network. Repeaters are fixed devices that are on 24/7 and forward messages.

By placing a repeater on your balcony, roof or other high location you help strengthen the network. Especially in rural areas and on the edges of cities repeaters are urgently needed to expand coverage.

Hundreds of people are already participating with a repeater, but the more the better! Every repeater helps make the network more reliable and wider.

What do you need?

To place a repeater you don't need much:

1. A good location

Preferably high (balcony, roof, attic), but not necessarily. The higher, the further the range. Even a window on the ground floor can help!

2. A repeater device

You can have a repeater from just a few tens of euros. The community is happy to advise you which device is best for your situation and budget.

๐Ÿ’ก Tip for outdoors without power outlet

Want a ready-made outdoor solar repeater? Then the Seeed Studio SenseCAP P1 Pro is recommended. It has a built-in solar panel, battery and mesh module โ€“ completely self-sufficient!

3. Power supply

A repeater must be on 24/7. You connect it to an outlet (consumes ~โ‚ฌ2-5 per year) or to a solar panel for completely autonomous operation.

4. Internet access (optional)

A repeater works without internet. But with a WiFi or Ethernet connection you can remotely monitor and update your repeater.
