Browser configuration

MeshCore web interface: configure via your browser

No software to install, just open your browser and configure your device. The easiest way to set up your MeshCore radio.

What is the MeshCore web interface?

MeshCore provides different browser-based tools to configure and use your devices. Depending on your firmware type (Companion, Repeater or Room Server) you use config.meshcore.dev for configuration or app.meshcore.nz as web client.

The big advantage? No installation required. No apps to download, no drivers to find, no complicated setup. Whether you're on Windows, Mac, Linux, Android or iOS: as long as you have a modern web browser (Chrome, Edge, or another Chromium browser), you can get started right away.

The web interfaces are especially popular with people who want to quickly adjust something without grabbing their smartphone, or with repeater operators who need to configure their devices. For beginners, it's also an ideal way to familiarize yourself with all settings without command-line commands.

Which MeshCore web tools are available?

MeshCore has two main web interfaces, depending on what you want to do:

1. Config Tool - config.meshcore.dev

For configuring Repeater and Room Server firmware. Connect your device via USB and open:

This tool works via USB serial connection and is specifically designed for repeaters and room servers without screens.

2. Web Client - app.meshcore.nz

For using Companion firmware (devices with screen). Connect via BLE, USB or WiFi:

This web client works as a complete replacement for the smartphone app. You can send messages, see nodes on the map, and use all features.

3. Flasher - flasher.meshcore.co.uk

For flashing firmware on your device. Works via USB in the browser, no software installation needed:

We already covered this tool on the firmware flashing page. Here you can install the latest firmware without command-line tools.

Main configuration options

Radio settings

Here you configure the basic radio parameters:

 • Region: Choose EU868 for the Netherlands (868 MHz frequency)
 • Transmission power: Default 22 dBm is usually fine, only increase if really needed
 • Airtime limit: Keep this low (10-20%) to avoid overloading the network

Channel settings

Configure your communication channels:

 • LongFast preset: This is the default for the Dutch MeshCore network
 • Encryption: Channels can optionally be encrypted with a PSK (Pre-Shared Key)
 • Multiple channels: You can have up to 8 channels active simultaneously for different groups

User settings

Personalize your node:

 • Long name: Your full name as it appears in messages (e.g. "John from Utrecht")
 • Short name: Abbreviated version, max 4 characters (e.g. "JOHN")

Enable modules

Activate additional functionality:

 • Position module: Automatically share your GPS location with the network
 • Telemetry module: Share battery level, temperature and other sensor data
 • Remote hardware: Let other nodes read sensors or control hardware

When do you use the web interface?

Quick adjustments without smartphone

You're at your computer and want to quickly add a channel or change a setting. Don't grab your smartphone, just open the browser and you're done in 10 seconds.

Configure repeaters remotely

You have a repeater in the attic or on a tall building. Via WiFi you can adjust settings remotely without physically accessing the device.

Firmware updates on multiple devices

If you have multiple MeshCore devices, the web interface is often faster than using your smartphone app each time. Especially handy when you need to update a whole club of devices.

Troubleshooting and monitoring

The web interface shows detailed node information and signal strength. Perfect when debugging or trying to figure out why certain nodes can't reach each other.

Frequently asked questions

Does the web interface work on my iPhone/iPad?

Yes, Safari on iOS fully supports the web interface. You can connect via WiFi if your device is on the same network, or via Bluetooth on newer iOS versions.

Do I need to flash firmware first to use the web interface?

No, the web tools (config.meshcore.dev and app.meshcore.nz) work with all MeshCore firmware versions. As soon as your device has MeshCore firmware, you can connect directly. You only need a modern browser (Chrome/Edge) and a USB cable or Bluetooth/WiFi connection.

Is the web interface more secure than the smartphone app?

Security is comparable. Via USB you're connected locally (very safe), via WiFi and Bluetooth the same security mechanisms apply as with the app. Always ensure your device has an admin password set if you connect via network.

Can I send messages without internet via the web interface?

Yes! The web interface communicates directly with your MeshCore device via USB, WiFi or Bluetooth. The device itself sends messages via LoRa to other nodes. So no internet is needed.

Which browser works best?

Chrome and Edge (based on Chromium) have the best support, especially for Bluetooth and USB connections. Firefox also works fine via WiFi. Safari on Mac/iOS works well, but sometimes has limitations with Bluetooth.

Can I use the web interface if my device has no display?

Absolutely! In fact, the web interface is often the only practical way to configure devices without a display. Connect it via USB or connect via WiFi and you have full control.

Start configuring right away

The web interface is the fastest and easiest way to set up your MeshCore device in the Netherlands. No installations, no hassle - just open your browser and get started. Perfect for beginners and experts alike.
