What is the Heltec Wireless Paper?
The Heltec Wireless Paper combines an ESP32-S3 processor with a 2.13" e-ink display and SX1262 LoRa chip. What makes this device special is its extremely low power consumption: only 20 µA in deep sleep mode.
The e-ink screen can retain an image for up to 180 days without power. This makes the Wireless Paper perfect for battery-powered nodes that need to run for months on a single charge. The screen is also excellently readable in direct sunlight.
This device is developed by Heltec Automation, a Chinese manufacturer based in Chengdu that has been making LoRa and IoT products since 2014. They have their own factory with 3 SMT lines and are known for affordable, reliable hardware.

Why the Wireless Paper?
The Wireless Paper is the best choice for battery-powered deployments. With only 20 µA in deep sleep, you can run for months on a small battery. The e-ink display only uses power during refresh.
The screen remains perfectly readable in direct sunlight - no reflections like LCD or OLED. This makes it ideal for outdoor use, electronic name badges, or asset tracking with visual status.
Note: The Wireless Paper has no built-in GPS. If you need location tracking, consider the Heltec Wireless Tracker. Also, WiFi and Bluetooth cannot be used simultaneously due to the lack of external PSRAM.
