What is the Heltec V4?
The Heltec WiFi LoRa 32 V4 is the latest version of the popular Heltec LoRa series. This upgrade offers significant improvements over the V3: built-in GPS, more memory (2MB PSRAM), higher transmit power (up to 27 dBm) and optional solar charging.
With the ESP32-S3R2 chip and 16MB flash memory, the V4 is better suited for complex applications and has greater range thanks to the increased transmit power. Ideal for those who want to get the most out of their MeshCore device.
Like the V3, the Heltec V4 is suitable for people with some technical knowledge. The device is often sold as a bare board - preferably buy a complete kit with antenna, case and battery.

What's new in the V4?
The biggest improvement is the transmit power of 27 dBm - significantly higher than the 21 dBm of the V3. This results in greater range, especially in urban areas with obstacles.
Additionally, the V4 has built-in GPS, allowing your location to be automatically shared on the MeshCore network. Useful for tracking and emergency situations. The extra PSRAM (2MB) makes the device more suitable for advanced firmware and UI.
Note: The V4 is newer and therefore less widely available than the V3. Check that the seller supplies the 868 MHz EU version.
